At the beginning of July we spent a week in San Diego with Ben's family. We had a whole lot of fun and made lots of good memories. The only bad part about the trip was that the sun didn't come out for pretty much the entire week. We did have one afternoon of a little sunshine and we definitely took advantage of it. My girls slept great every night after playing hard with their cousins all day.
Emma on our first night in San Diego enjoying the sun! (of course she had to have a coat on because it really wasn't very warm).
On Sunday we went to church and then we went up to see the San Diego temple. It is a beautiful temple and we were a little disappointed that it was covered in scaffolding.
While we were there Ady stepped on a bee and got stung. It was quite the tragedy and she cried and cried. Once we wrapped it up in paper towels she felt all better and pretty much forgot about the whole thing.
On Monday we went to the Mormon Battalion museum.
It was very interesting and the kids had fun going to the different stations and panning for gold.
After the museum we walked around Old Town San Diego for a while and had lunch - YUMMY!
This is all but one of the Neumann grandkids. The grandkids built a fortress and were doing everything they could to not let it get washed away. They kept the waves off for quite a while but in the end the tide won and the castle washed away:(
On Tuesday we went and visited some of our friends who live in southern California - Amber & Jamie. It was fun to see them and to catch up.
We spent Wednesday shopping and hanging out on the beach:)
On Thursday we went to Sea World. I love Sea World and my girls loved seeing all of the animals (except for the sharks and the bat rays). They really liked watching the shows...I think their favorite was the "Pet Rules" show because they loved seeing the dogs and cats and other animals do their tricks.

Emma with Nick & Emily at the Shamu show.
Shelbi, Emily, Luke, Kaleb, Hank, Whitney, Aubrey, & LindySome of the kids decided to sit in the splash zone...thankfully they didn't get wet because it was definitely chilly!
Emma & Ady having a great time! They actually were really good most of the day and we stayed until the park closed.
We decided to brave the cold and go on Ship Wreck Rapids. Of course we got pretty wet but it was well worth it...we were only cold for the next hour:)
Marci, Whitney, Emma, Brooke, Abby & AdyAfter going on the grown up rides we took the girls to the kids area. They both loved "Abby's Tea Cups".
Ady, Abby, & Emma playing on the slides in the kid area.We had a great time at Sea World. I didn't think that we would make it through the whole day but the girls were great. They both fell asleep during the night time Shamu show and the fireworks after having a fun day at Sea World.
Friday morning we had our fingers crossed for a little sun...but it didn't happen. We went shopping again in the morning and then headed back to the beach house for another day in the ocean.
Brooke, Emily, Marci, Abby, Alyvia, Grandma Neumann, Emma, Hank, & Ady sitting on the beach because the water was just too cold. We talked to the life guards and they told us that at the beginning of the week the water temperature was around 65 degrees and by Friday it was down in the 50's...brrrr!
Ben & Brooke on the beach
On our last morning we went for a walk on the beach and Ady found all of this flowers sprinkled all over the beach. She was so excited to bring them back for a pretty centerpiece.
